test jig for motorcycle current flow tests

    hello

here is a drawing of how to hook up an amp meter for testing to see
if a bike is using to much current flow or to see how much the new
goodies you added are sucking from the battery
it is intended for testong 125 cc mz bikes but will work on most
all bikes except those that want mega watts for every thing
you dont really need on a bike :)

COMMENT ON BIKES OR PARTS FOR SALE

IF YOU ARE IN THE USA THIS IS ADDRESSED TO YOU

The sale of an MZ or any bike at this time in the USA is a problem

Don’t expect to get a lot of money out of it.

The best thing to do is keep it and ride it Or just give it to a friend or relative in need of a daily driver

    And move on..

if you need to sell ...advertise  Post it on www.cycletrader.. post it on Craig’s list in your area Post it on the post board at local dealers And hang in there

please don’t parts it out unless it is wrecked OR not complete

The real way to get your money out of it is use it not sell it

The sell problem is best summed up this way Gary k has a mz tour for sale I would love to have one Problem money my pay last year $22,000 down $3,000 from 2 years Ago (60%cut in extra school bus runs) and still paying bills from last years HEART ATTACK And every thing I buy up by at least 15% in the last 3 years

Yes you’re having trouble selling your toys

The people that make 3 times what I do can not afford them either

     Ar Dave

(Steps down off the SOAP BOX)

PS give the economy a real boost keep the old bikes and make more dealers Go belly up.. most often the best one in town dies first leaving us to deal with ID 10 T errors

the wires are bad about crossion

    3 MZ RT125 BATTERY INFO

I went shopping at the Interstate Batteries dealer here

THE ORIGNAL BATTERY IS NOT VERY GOOD THERE IS NO MZ LISTING IN THERE BOOKS

    this applys to the RT125

    YB9L-A2 IS A DROP IN (

YB10L-A2 IS EASER TO FIND BUT YOU WOULD HALF TO REMOVE ABOUT

1/8 INCH FROM THE PLASTIC SIDE COVER AT THE BOTTOM AND ALSO 2 LITTLE KNOCHES

SO IT WON'T CUT THE RUBBER HOLD DOWN STRAP AND THE COVER SNAPS BACK ON OK

THE RUBBER STRAP THAT HOLDS BATTERY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO FIT INTO THE SPACE BETWEEN

THE BATTERY LUG AND CASE AS IT IS STREACHED TO FAR IF THIS IS NOT DONE

ALSO THE BOTTOM OF BATTERY NEEDS A BLACK COVER OR IT LOOKS BAD I USED THE

BLACK COVER OFF THE OLD BATTERY HEAT IT WITH A HAIR DRYER TO PEAL IT OFF

i have NOW change to a sealed gel cell from a booster pack i had ..it does not fit very well

and is on its side with a longer set of big wires and some more mods to side cover

it has started the bike at 15deg F

the gell cell is 15ah bike starts much better

starter relay died see below notes

below are notes on some of the problems if they dont help ask at wd8cyv@yahoo.com

    hello

here are some  problems i have had
    with my bike

under the seat at the right front is the starter relay
where the 2 big wires hook to it attach a switch when you turn on the
switch bike should start if it does starter relay is bad

    yamaha relay part number 4KD-81940-00
    is a direct replacement
    unhook battery when change it

if the starter runs but engine does not turn over it is a clutch inside the motor on the starter if that is the problem i can send details of how to change it also ...read warning below about broken part

    READ BELOW for more info

its a nice bike and will run good for you once we get the common problems worked out
here is my notes from last year and the year before
MZ STARTER RELAY JULY 13 2003 4914 MILES hello all 125 owners rt sm sx fun-x my rt 125 did not start on sunday morning at the BMWOA rally IN CHARLESTON WV sounded like battery was low i jumped the starter relay at the big power wires under the seat and it started right up i then hooked up a wire where i could start it with out taking the seat off and road it home 95 MILES AND STARTED IT THAT WAY FOR 2 DAYS WHILE I CHECKED THINGS OUT BATTERY OK CHARGEING OK THEN WENT TO THE LOCAL AFTERMARKET PART SHOP IN MY HOME TOWN i replaced the starter relay with a yamaha relay part number 4KD-81940-00 IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THE ORIGINIAL PART AND THE STARTING PROBLEM WENT AWAY THE RELAY WAS KICKING IN OK BUT WOULD NOT DELIVER THE CURRENT NEEDED TO MAKE THE STARTER MOTOR ROLL THE MOTOR DIRTY CONTACTS IN RELAY STARTER RELAYS ON LAWN MOWERS DO THE SAME THING BUT THEY CAN BE DRILLED APART AND CLEANED AR

    BROKEN PART WARNING

    aug 26 2002 update nov 11 2002 at bottom
THE RT 125 I HAVE MADE A LOUD POPING SOUND COMING
OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT AT MY HOME
    AND THE MOTOR DIED

I TRIED TO START IT AND THE STARTER SPINS LIKE THE WIND
THERE IS A FREEWHEEL CLUTCH BETWEEN THE STARTER
AND THE BALANCE SHAFT TO START THE MOTOR
THE FREEWHEEL IS A SPECIAL UNIT A CLUTCH
TO DISCONNECT THE STARTER WHEN THE MOTOR STARTS
IT BROKE BUT THE BIKE CAN BE BUMP STARTED
BUT THIS SHOULD NOT BE DONE
BECAUSE IF THE FREEWHEEL IS BOUND UP YOU CAN CAUSE
    MORE DAMAGE
IF YOU REMOVE THIS PART THEN YOU CAN PUT IT BACK TOGETHER
AND RIDE IT HOME BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO BUMP START THE BIKE
THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED UNLESS YOUR STRANDED
AND DESPRATE AS YOU WILL NEED SPEICAL TOOLS AND A AIR IMPACT AND IS
BEST DONE AT HOME OR IN THE SHOP
ALSO THE SHOP MANUAL HAS WARNINGS AND SHOULD BE READ BEFORE
    WORKING ON THIS PROBLEM

THE WARNING IS THAT IF THIS HAPPENS YOU SHOULD NOT
RUN THE MOTOR UNTIL THIS PART HAS BEEN REMOVED
AND A NEW OIL FILTER AND OIL PUT IN THE BIKE
SO THAT THE GROUND UP PIECES ARE REMOVED FROM THE MOTOR
DON'T CAUSE MORE DAMAGE THAN IS ALREADY DONE…

update problem fixed but i think part of it may have been the wrong
oil i now use yamaha oil for 4cycle bike motors with wet clutches
and the bike seems to run much better on this oil

    i now use shell rotella T 15w-40 (dec 2004)

pictures of how to change this part can be sent on request
    it is not hard
i will be doing the inside clutch adjustments to mine soon
and planed to make pictures of how to do it ...so i will also do pictures
of how to do the starter clutch

good luck dave rt125 in usa

_IF YOU ARE HAVING THE STARTER FREEWHEEL PROBLEM WE NEED TO TALK ON THE PHONE E MAIL ME FOR IMPORTANT INFO ON THIS PROBLEM just replacing the part is not all of the fix

    turkey cars

There was a story on turkey cars the rating of the YUGO was way off

the 2 YUGO'S i owned were good cars
from my view the car had problems
1 most of the people that bought them beat the crap out of them they could break steel with a rubber mallet
2 lack of fixing things called perventive maintance

i bought one from a wrecking yard as a fixer  and wound up with $1050usd in it in 1990 i drove it 60,000 miles
    and sold it for $1,200usd

the wife bought one for $1,600 usd with 25,000miles on it and drove to 178,000miles

the only problem i found with them was the rubber timing belt wanted to jump time in cold weather

they were better to us than any ford or chev we have owned

and if you find a clean used one there is a place in texas that still sells parts for them
    ar dave
ps if i needed a used car i would buy one of them befor buying any of the junk ford or GM make now!!!!!
